Newsletter 11th March 2016
11th March 2016
Dear Parents and Carers
We are racing through the weeks and now approaching Easter. We break up very soon on Holy Thursday, the 24th of March at 1pm. Please look out for your Church’s Easter programme. There will be Masses on Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday. I hope, as families, you will be able to make at least one Easter Mass. Additionally there will be vigils and extra services. After Good Friday every opportunity is made to rejoice, praise and be thankful for the glory of Our Lord.
Wednesday 16th March - the Junior school will be making their Sacrament of Reconciliation. This is organised by the school annually so can you prepare the children for this day. Remind them what they have to say and ask them to reflect on how they can live out the Gospel values.
On Friday 18th March is St Joseph’s Day – the children can wear their own clothes but would like it to be something sporty for Sports Relief. Look out for further announcements, by text, about March 18th.
School Easter Service
Year 5 will be performing their Easter Play on Wednesday 23rd March at 2.00pm at Sacred Heart. Please come along if you can.
Infant Easter Bonnet Parade will be on Thursday March 24th at 9.00am
Junior Easter Raffle will take place on Thursday 24th March - tickets available from Tuesday 15th March. Al proceeds will buy games for the playground.
World Book Day
A big thank you to everyone who made such a fantastic effort with costumes. Winners for each class have a £5 book token. Please keep reading with your children it is the only way they see and hear new vocabulary and can explore their imaginations. One of the best things about the day is how the older children read with the younger children and how they are so committed to doing this. Please look at the school website for photos. The children look adorable.
Dates for September 2016 – July 2017
This week dates forth e new school year have gone out in book bags. Please check them. You will also find the dates for the new school year on our website – www.stjosephs.southwark.sch.uk Just in case I have added them again.
Open Door Policy
Our school is always ready to listen to comments from all stakeholders in our community. If you would like to talk to Mrs Gallagher, Ms Kirrane, Ms Jameson or Mr Reilly about anything then please just call and make an appointment. We cannot fix things we are not aware of and we cannot change things for the better if you do not let us know if things are bothering you.
Reflection
I shall pass through this world but once. Therefore any act of good that I can do, any act that I can perform for any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not delay or omit it for I shall not pass this way again. (attributed to Stephen Grellet)
