October is celebrated as Black history month we are now into the second week of work in this and a project will be completed after the half term.
Injections protecting our children are really important – so many thanks for returning flu jab forms the date of the flu jabs is 8th December.
As the Government decide what steps to take to slow the R Rate of Covid 19 we all need to try to keep ourselves safe, so thank you to everyone who is wearing mass onsite and following the school guidance ond procedures – we greatly appreciate it. We are planning for how we would deliver our curriculum in the event of a lockdown. Fingers crossed, we won’t need it, but it pays to be prepared. So our Virtual learning platform information is coming out today- letter and login in school bag. Please check your children’s bags, because if they are anything like mine, the letters will stay there until I look for them!
I’ve seen some fantastic spelling in year 1 and year 2, great use of their phonics and now seeing it in their independent writing.
Reception have completed their baseline assessment of the children which will help us support them as they learn over the year.
Kindness was a key focus in KS2 this week and it reminds me of the Dalai Lama, when he was asked about what was important in life, he replied, “it is important to be kind whenever possible…it is ALWAYS possible!”

Early Years and Infant News
I have been so proud of the children this week.
In Reception the children have worked incredibly hard on their phonics. They have been taking reading books home to practise their sounds, and they have even started to take story books home!
In Year One, I have been so impressed with their written work. Full stops and capital letters are being used properly, and the children are starting to read aloud the work they have written.
Year Two have been working so hard with their maths work- I have given out so many gold stickers this week!
I would like to say a special well done to all the children in the Infant School who are working so hard to stay safe at School during Covid. They are following the one way system, moving sensibly around the School and they are now experts at washing their hands!
Another special well done to three members of staff in the Infants who recently passed their paediatric first aid course- thank you for all of your hard work in helping to keep the children in our School safe.

Junior News
It has been a wonderful week for the children who are now very much immersed in their learning. The teachers and support staff have been working really hard to make sure the children feel settled and ready for their learning each day.
In assembly this week, I spoke to the pupils about keeping Safe and showing kindness during this period of Covid -19. It is important children are encouraged to wash their hands regularly at home, social distancing where possible particularly when they are outside waiting for the school gate to be opened.
As numbers of positive case increase in the wider community it is necessary for all of us to look after each other. You as parents/carers can protect our school community in the following ways.
- Ensuring you are socially distancing on and around the school premises
- Wearing a face covering when entering office area or playground and when queuing.
- Please leave the premises as soon as you have picked your child up so we can avoid congestion in the playground. Please remember that this is to keep everyone safe.
A letter informing parents and carers on how to logon to our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE Platform on our website) in the event of your child, a bubble, or the whole school needing to isolate due to Coronavirus will be in your child’s bag today. Your child’s username and password will be attached to the letter. Please do watch out for this.
Golden Book
Finally our golden book celebration. This week we are celebration children for their hard work and being a positive role model.
