Newsletter 4th May 2018
Friday 4th May 2018
Dear St Joseph’s Families and Friends,
I am sure that many of you would have received the news of the Infant School Ofsted. The school remains a ‘Good’ school. Even though Ofsted have said some lovely things about our school we are not complacent and we will continue to use this report to further improve the school. The report is on the website, I hope you get a chance to read it when you have time. Here are a few snapshots of their comments:
‘You have developed a strong senior leadership team. Together you ensure a stimulating and calm environment in which pupils make good progress.’
‘Pupils typically say their teachers are kind and that they are looked after well’
‘You and your teaching staff place strong emphasis on developing the ‘whole child’ and learning opportunities are extended beyond the classroom’
‘The curriculum is underpinned by the school’s values of hope, love, peace and justice.’
Use of Social Media
Have you ever heard of ‘sharenting’? I was on a safeguarding course this week which used this term and spoke about parents sharing too much information or images of their children on social media without their permission and whether this was ok. Are they crossing the boundaries of privacy? Research has suggested that not all children are happy with parents sharing their images. Perhaps you could discuss this at home with your children if you are concerned.

Let’s keep our attendance as high as possible – we are doing very well so far!

Infant School spaces
Do you know anyone who wants a RECEPTION space in a school for September? Locally there has been much movement in terms of housing so please ask your friends if they need a school place for their child in September or sooner for Year 1 or 2. We still have spaces across the Infant School. Please ask at the school office as soon as possible as there are a few places left.
Junior Gymnastics
I am very pleased to report that our Junior School gymnastic team came second place at the Southwark Schools Gymnastics Competition. Well done to all involved!
Dropping children early to school
Please do not leave your child in the school playground unsupervised or under the watchful eye of another parent. You should stay with your child until the bell goes.
Please see overleaf for the 2018-2019 school dates
