Newsletter 5th July 2017
Dear Parents and Carers,
It is with great delight that I am able to report some very good results for our KS2 SATS. The children have done well and we are so proud of them. My special thanks go to all the staff who have contributed to this success and also to you the parents who have ensured the children were equipped and ready for the tests. There is an increasing amount of pressure put on children to perform and be compared nationally and to find the balance between hard work and well-being is sometimes a challenge for all of us but especially the children. So a big THANK YOU to all of you.

Awards
I was lucky enough to represent St Joseph’s at the Southwark Teaching Awards Ceremony where we won two awards. One for ‘Innovation and Collaboration’ and the other for ‘Special Contribution for Service to Southwark Schools’. These awards reflect the work we are doing in our journey towards ‘Outstanding’. It is important for us to be outward looking and to share expertise across schools so we can all be the best we can be. I would like to give a big cheer to all the staff at St Joseph’s whose great team work has made this happen!
Art Gallery
We had a fantastic art exhibition last Wednesday! The children are multi- talented. Thank you to everyone involved.

Reflection
In his inaugural speech as South African President Nelson Mandela said,
“We ask ourselves: ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous’ Actually who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God…We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.”
Be safe in the knowledge that God is with you always.
