6G PE in Science

We missed our PE lesson this week as we were enjoying a day of art with Mr. Jerry, so Miss. Davies had the marvellous idea of combining our science lesson with a bit of PE.  Our Science topic this term is Animals, including humans and we are going to looking at how our bodies work and the effect of diet and exercise on our lives.  Today we were observing how our heart rate changes when we carry out exercise.  We took our resting pulse rate before we began to exercise and then completed a circuit of six different exercises, which included: sprints, sit ups, burpees, bench hops, star jumps and running squats.  We carried out each exercise for one minute and had a 30 second break before moving onto the next one.  At the end of each circuit we took our pulse rate again.  We completed the circuit 3 times as we were repeating results for reliability.  We were all pretty worn out by the end of the lesson!

We will be looking at our results more closely and discussing what we notice about them in the coming weeks.  In the meantime here are some pictures of us in action!
